The Sink Elevates It
This building holds 190 first-year students. It’s got a supersized, sunny lounge on the lower level, plus a smaller lounge on each floor. Dorm rooms come with a bed, bed frame, mattress, desk, desk chair, and built-in closet space for each resident. Rooms also have carpet, a sink (yes), a vanity, and relatively large closets. Genders alternate by floor.
What’s Cool About It
Pittman, named for donors Jean and Delmar Pittman, is across the street from the Arboretum and the Fine Arts Building. Its public spaces have had a nice, (relatively) new facelift. The building’s layout encourages residents to leave their doors open and make friends. Students love hanging out in the lower level lounge, playing pool and ping pong. Both Pittman and Sohre were originally built for women, therefore there is a sink in each room. Apparently back the 1960s, only women brushed their teeth and washed their faces.
