The Swestern Skies
Built in 2005, this apartment- and suite-style residence hall gets its name from its southwestern location on campus. Close academic halls include Mattson, Olin, and Fine Arts. Southwest houses 192 students, primarily in four-person apartments (2 bedrooms, 2 residents in each bedroom), and four-person suites (4 individual bedrooms). Each resident is provided a bed, bed frame, mattress, desk, desk chair, and closet space. The apartments have full kitchens.
What’s Cool About It
Swest, as it is known on campus and among its fans, is famous for its public atriums which are stunningly sunny places to hang out. It’s also known for the sunsets over the Arb as seen from Swest’s upper floors. These are arguably the best dorm views on campus (rivaling even the east-facing rooms of Sorensen). Fun fact: Swest has a hostel space for off-campus groups and summer programs.
