All in the Making
Visual artists and lovers of art history, this is your gallery space, studio space, and playground. Unlike at most college’s of our size, senior visual art majors get their own studio space here. Plus, the Schaefer Art Gallery hosts both student and professional exhibitions, often curated by students. Come here to work in multiple mediums, from wood to watercolors, from chalk to charcoal.
What’s Cool About It
The building has forgers, so students can take metallurgy. The Schaefer Art Gallery houses student exhibits and brings in contemporary artists for exhibition, class and public lectures, residencies, and discussion-based workshops. The senior studios have some of the best natural light on campus. And in the northwest entry of the building, do not forget the bronze bust of Joel Sandberg ’67, the first Â鶹ÊÓƵ graduate killed in the Vietnam War. It was created by by sculptor Donald Gregory ’47 and cast by sculptor Paul Granlund ’52.
