Say it. Hear it. Read it.Â
At the twin buildings of Confer and Vickner, you’ll explore what and how things are said, read, and done around the world. The two buildings are home to the English, Scandinavian Studies, and Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures Departments. You’ll also find the Digital Humanities lab here.
What’s Cool About ItÂ
Folks often speculate, chicken-and-egg-like, which came first: the Confer or the Vickner? Let the record show it was Vickner Hall, built in 1961, a gift from Bertha Almen Vickner Class of 1910, and her husband, Edwin Vickner, a professor of German, Spanish, and Swedish. Confer Hall was added in 1991, named for Ogden P. Confer, a former chairman of the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Board of Trustees. Around campus, the sister buildings are often called Con-Vick for short.
