Beck Your Life On It 

It’s home to an eclectic sampling of academic departments: Business and Economics, Communication Studies, History, Psychological Science, and Sociology and Anthropology. In typical Â鶹ÊÓƵ liberal arts form, students who make these departments their academic home rendezvous often in Beck’s many gathering spaces—to communicate, collaborate, and innovate across majors and departments.

What’s Cool About It

It’s the most environmentally sustainable building on campus, only the third academic facility in Minnesota to earn LEED Platinum (the highest rating from the U.S. Green Council). Beck conserves 44 percent more energy and 30 percent more water than typical building code requires, and 75 percent of its construction waste was recycled during its build in 2010. Some of the coolest student orgs on campus have their HQ here: the Esports lounge, the campus radio/TV studios, and the digital media arts lab are all here. It’s named for donors and alumni Warren ’76 and Donna ’66 Beck.
