Big questions

Students edit genes at Â鶹ÊÓƵ to create climate-resistant crops.

Student in lab

On campus and around the world

The big questions are where research and creativity begin. Throughout the academic year and summer, students and faculty collaborate on research and creative projects—in classrooms, laboratories, studios, theatres, and throughout the local community.

And out in the field too. Recent students have collected data on fish populations on the open seas, excavated Roman villas, measured glacial melt in the Andes, and interviewed local farmers.

Your research is meaningful. It can shape your future.  It can change the world.  And you can start during your very first year.

Research Events

Each year there are several opportunities to share your research and to learn from others on campus and around the country.

Students who conduct research on campus, in the field, or at other institutions over the summer present their work on campus.

Sixteen students, expenses paid, attend the undergraduate research symposia held at the University of Chicago and the University of Washington, St. Louis.

Gusties have a strong presence at the ! Here they share their work with a national audience.

A campus-wide forum to publicly share the creative inquiry of Gustie students. This event encompasses research and scholarship in the arts, including in the forms of exhibits and performances. All students are invited to participate, with projects defined by the standards of research, scholarship, and/or creativity of their disciplines.
