Tuition Benefit Options

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ offers tuition benefit programs to eligible employees and their dependent children: Tuition Exchange, Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA) Tuition Exchange, and the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Scholarship Program.

Tuition Exchange

offers the opportunity for dependent children to attend another institution with a tuition exchange scholarship. It is a reciprocal scholarship opportunity for eligible faculty and staff dependents at all 700+ individual member schools. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ determines your student’s admission and eligibility for Tuition Exchange scholarships. Tuition Exchange can be a competitive award and is not guaranteed.

All Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ eligible employee dependents are certified for this program. It is up to the receiving institution to determine admission and eligibility for scholarships. Tuition Exchange can be a competitive award. The minimum scholarship amount is set by Tuition Exchange and the member school. This program is only available for a student's first undergraduate degree.  It is not an employee benefit but an opportunity because of employment. 

  1. Student applies for admission to Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ.

  2. Student completes (TE-EZ app).

  3. Your home institution approves TE-EZ app for export to Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ.

  4. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ receives TE-EZ app and determines scholarship amount and notifies student.

  1. Student applies for admission to institutions they wish to attend.
  2. Student completes (TE-EZ App).
  3. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Tuition Exchange Officer approves student’s TE-EZ app for export.
  4. The receiving institution receives TE-EZ app and determines scholarship amount, if any. 

ELCA Tuition Exchange

ELCA Tuition Exchange scholarships are available for dependent children of employees working at an ELCA school to attend another ELCA school with an exchange scholarship. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will determine your student's admission and typically matches the home institution’s percentage of tuition benefit. The program is only available for a student's first undergraduate degree.   1. Student applies for admission to Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ.

  2. Employee submits ELCA Tuition Exchange Program Application Form to home institution.

  3. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ receives ELCA Tuition Exchange Program Application form from home institution.

  4. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ determines tuition benefit amount and notifies student.

  1. Student applies for admission to ELCA institutions they wish to attend.
  2. Employee completes and submits to Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Tuition Exchange Officer.
  3. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Tuition Exchange Officer submits form to ELCA school the student will attend.
  4. Host institution determines tuition benefit amount, if applicable.

CIC Tuition Exchange

CIC Tuition Exchange scholarships are available for students affiliated with another participating institutions wishing to attend Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ with exchange scholarship or Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ employees, their spouses, and dependent children.  Please visit the for more information.

For students coming to Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ on an exchange scholarship, this program offers the opportunity for undergraduate degrees only (Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ master’s degrees are not eligible). This program is not restricted to a first undergraduate degree only. 

For Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ employees, this program offers the opportunity for undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degrees. Online options are also available. Graduate and doctoral degrees through this program are only available to employees and their spouses. This program is not restricted to a first undergraduate degree only.

  4. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ receives Tuition Exchange Program app and determines the scholarship amount.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Tuition Scholarship

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ provides a Tuition Scholarship Program to eligible dependent children of faculty and staff, allowing for the completion of a bachelor’s degree with no out-of-pocket costs for tuition. This program is only available for a student's first undergraduate degree. Limited to a maximum of eight semesters. Does not cover housing, meals, or fees. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ reserves the right to amend this benefit at any time for any reason.

 

  1. Student applies for admission to Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ.
  2. Family submits the (FAFSA).
  3. Student receives Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Tuition Scholarship if admitted to the College.

Eligibility for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ employees

Dependents are eligible for the following tuition benefits after the parent has completed two years of aggregate full-time employment. 

  • A parent’s service at a regionally accredited higher education institution will be considered for the two years of full-time employment. Benefits begin at the start of the semester following the qualifying full-time anniversary date.
  • Employees must remain full-time, benefits-eligible (i.e., work a minimum of 30 hours per week for 39 weeks) during benefit use.
  • Should a benefits-eligible employee drop below full-time status or terminate employment, the benefit terminates at the end of the current semester.
  • Employees who are on approved leaves of absence with pay and benefits will maintain eligibility as long as they were eligible prior to leave.
  • If an eligible Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ employee retires as defined by College policy, is permanently disabled, or is deceased, any eligible children currently enrolled in the program or enrolled in grades 9-12 at the time of change will remain eligible.
