Program Features
This interdisciplinary minor explores the histories, cultures, and global experiences of Africans and people of African descent through political, social, economic, and artistic lenses. Students engage with local African immigrant communities, international perspectives, guest speakers, and performers.
Career paths include roles in government (Peace Corps, Foreign Service), community services, international development, and graduate programs in fields like peace studies and sociology.
The program draws on courses from at least six departments and eight faculty members, giving students a broad academic network. To complete the minor, students take AFS-190 plus four approved electives.
