HES 219 Exercise Leadership
This course is designed to prepare students to effectively and safely lead group exercise. Course material will be presented in lecture, group discussion, class participation, and leadership experiences. Concepts will be further reinforced by developing and leading exercise sessions. Guest instructors may be invited to share their knowledge and expertise and there will be opportunity to participate in experiences outside of the classroom and within the community.
HES 222 Applied Human Nutrition
This course emphasizes basic nutritional principles and concepts, their application to personal health and the relationship between food and its use by the human body for energy, regulation, structure, and optimal health. Discussion of issues in nutrition during various stages of the life cycle and specific chronic diseases will be addressed.
HES 230 Human Anatomy & Physiology
An in-depth study of the structure and function of the human body. Body systems include: integumentary, skeletal, muscular, and nervous. This course is suitable for students majoring in exercise physiology and nursing, as well as students preparing for graduate school in the health sciences, including pre-athletic training, pre-medicine, pre-physical therapy, pre-occupational therapy, pre-physician assistant, and other health-related fields.
HES 313 Exercise/Diet/Disease
This course focuses on adult health promotion. Students will develop skills in researching and writing a resource module on a pertinent health topic and presenting health information to adult audiences.
