There are many opportunities for students to engage in Research, Scholarship, Creativity, and Dialogue (RSCD) opportunities in the summer. Student-faculty collaborations involve in-depth, faculty-sponsored inquiry projects in any discipline. Summer projects may take different forms:
- research assistantship [e.g. working in a faculty member's lab or on a faculty-driven research project]
- independently-conceived student project with a faculty member as a mentor
- equal partnership between a faculty member and a student
In summer 2020, 47 Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ students conducted research in collaboration with Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ faculty. These students were mentored by 23 Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ faculty, from 12 different departments and programs, including: Theatre & Dance, Scandinavian Studies, Political Science, Physics, Mathematics, Geology, Environmental Studies, English, Communication Studies, Chemistry, Biology, and Art.
Summer opportunities at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ include:
- First-Year Research Experience (FYRE)
- Second-Year Experience at Research (SEAR)
- Presidential Faculty-Student Collaboration Grants
- Externally funded faculty research projects (e.g. National Science Foundation grant)
- Faculty research projects funded by Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ endowed funds
- Johnson and Peterson Summer Research Fellowships
