Priscilla BriggsFaculty

As a practicing artist, my work has evolved with my life experiences. I first realized my passion for the photographic image as a college student, when I spent every spare cent I had to buy film and photo paper. Since then, my work has evolved from portraiture to a more concept-driven approach to art-making. I'm interested in the intersection of economic/political systems, identity, and environmental and social justice.

Since graduating with a BA degree from Carnegie Mellon University, my career path has been varied. Before coming to teach at Â鶹ÊÓƵ, I had many experiences teaching studio art to students of all ages and diverse backgrounds. I enjoy teaching within the liberal arts mission of Â鶹ÊÓƵ and guiding students in their experience of the visual arts as both an intuitive and intellectual process that contributes to well-being and supports our curiosity as human beings.

I teach Digital Photography, Video Art, and a Challenge Seminar Zines for Sustainability. My video works have been screened in venues such as the Minneapolis International Film Festival and the Charles Theater in Baltimore, MD. My photography has been exhibited internationally and published in my monograph, , and the Thames & Hudson catalog for the exhibition My work had been supported by grants from the McKnight Foundation, the Minnesota State Arts Board, and the Puffin Foundation. I am a member of Rosalux Gallery and the Fotomatter Collective in Minneapolis.

I invite you to visit my to explore my work as an artist.
