Christopher FlynnFaculty
Adjunct Research Professor in History
I got my PhD in medieval history from the University of Minnesota. My central research area is the Carolingian empire, especially the parts east of the Rhine River. I study political, military, and administrative history, especially under King Louis "the German," a grandson of Emperor Charlemagne. My research attempts to demonstrate the complexity of early medieval warfare, still too-often stereotyped as "dark age" and "barbaric" in popular media.Â
