CONSTITUTION OF THE GUSTAVUS BOTANICAL SOCIETY

ARTICLE I:NAME

The name of this organization shall be The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Botanical Society. It may be represented shorthand as GBS. 

ARTICLE II: PURPOSE

The purpose of the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Botanical Society shall be to promote interest and education in the botanical sciences among students and to create a collaborative community of aspiring botanists and plant enthusiasts. 

ARTICLE III: MEMBERSHIP

Section 1: Membership in this organization is open to all students regardless of age, race, color, creed, sex, national origin or sexual preference who have interest in the botanical sciences. 

Section 2: The members of this organization have the opportunity to register to become student members of the Botanical Society of America.

Section 3: Members are accepted throughout the year.

ARTICLE IV: EXECUTIVE BOARD

Section 1: The following officer positions shall exist in the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Botanical Society: President(s), Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Risk Manager, and Social Media Manager. All positions are open to students at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ with priority given to those students who have had the longest active membership in the organization.

Section 2: The executive board will be decided at the beginning of the academic year annually. 

Section 3: A board member may be removed from their executive positions if they fail to meet a majority of the meetings and events. Removal of a member must be done with a ⅔ majority vote by members in the club. 

Section 4: The executive board will be responsible for planning events and setting dates for events and regular meetings. 

Section 5: The president(s) will be responsible for communication with the national Botanical Society of America. 

ARTICLE V: ²Ñ·¡·¡°Õ±õ±·³Ò³§Ìý

Section 1: Meetings will be held at least once a semester with more meetings added as seen necessary by the executive board. The president(s) will set the agenda for the meetings with the help of the executive board. 

Section 2: Decisions shall be made by majority vote at the meetings. 

ARTICLE VI: FINANCES

Section 1: Funds shall be acquired allocations by the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Student Senate or through donations. Fundraising may be done if needed. 

ARTICLE VII: AMENDMENTS

Section 1: A member may propose an amendment at any time to the executive board for consideration. 

Section 2: An amendment may be added by a majority vote by all members.
