This article has frequently asked questions and troubleshooting information for print accounting at 鶹Ƶ.

FAQ

Will 鶹Ƶ Technology Services automatically deduct $30 dollars from my student account at the beginning of each year?

Answer: At the beginning of each year students are given $30 dollars. This can be verified by logging into and looking at your account balance. The initial $30 is the equivalent of 600 printing units and is not charged to the students. If you run out of your funds you can add more to your account. See blah blah for more information.

Why is my student balance decreasing as I print?

Answer: This is the way the print accounting system is designed at 鶹Ƶ. Each document you print will deduct funds from your print balance. To add funds to your print balance see blah blah for more information.

Troubleshooting

I tried to print multiple pages of my document on one sheet of paper, but got charged for all pages.

I released my print job, but nothing came out.

Answer:

I printed my document on both sides of a sheet of paper (duplexed) and still got charged for two pages.

Answer: Unfortunately at this time, 鶹Ƶ Technology Services does not offer discounts for duplex print jobs. It is our suggestion that you use duplex printing because it is a great way to save paper and trees. However, from a cost standpoint, the paper is a fraction of the cost. It costs less than $0.01 per page. What you are getting charged is a direct reflection of our cost of toner and and other printer consumables.

For reference the following is from the official print policy adopted by the President's Cabinet, located on our printing WIKI:

'Students are given 600 "printing units" per academic year at no charge on all college-owned printers. One printing unit is defined as one side of an 8.5" x 11" page on a black and white printer. A single side of an 8.5" x 11" page printed on a color printer counts as 4 units."
