How do I tell if my computer is 32-bit or 64-bit?

Windows 10:

  1. Click the Start button in the bottom left
  2. Click on Settings
  3. Click on System
  4. Click on About and it will show you if you are 32-bit or 64-bit right next to 'System Type'


Why does it matter?

  1. Software is made specifically for each system type. You cannot run 64-bit software on a 32-bit OS, and it is not recommended to run 32-bit software on a 64-bit OS.
