An e-mail attachment is a file that is attached to an e-mail message as a way of sharing files or transporting files to a different computer.

How to send an attachment

Troubleshooting

If you are not able to send an e-mail (with or without attachments) make sure of the following:

  1. Ensure that you are not over your disk space quota. An e-mail will usually be sent out from the Technology Services office when you are over your disk space quota, but if you want an exact amount you can view that by going to the GTS tools page. Under the account tools section, click on Check Disk Usage. If you're unable to do this, contact the Technology Helpline.
  2. Ensure that the attachment you are trying to send is not too large. If your attachment is too large, try sending it as a link instead. Please visit the Webmail wiki article to learn more about how to do this.
  3. Ensure that you are using a web browser that fits your needs. If you are using Internet Explorer and it is not allowing you to send your e-mail with an attachment, try sending it with Mozilla Firefox. If you are using Firefox and it is not allowing you to send an e-mail with an attachment, try using Internet Explorer.

If you have any further questions regarding sending an e-mail with or without an attachment, please contact the Technology Helpline at x6111.
