A Geographic Information System (GIS) is a system for capturing, storing, analyzing and managing data and associated attributes which are spatially referenced to the earth.
Lab
ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ maintains a GIS computer lab in the basement of Nobel Hall. The lab is equipped with 15 Pentium IV machines. Each machine has several geographical software titles installed, including:
- ArcView v. 3.3
- ArcGIS 9.0
- Spatial Analyst
- 3-D Analyst
- Idrisi GIS software
Access to a color printer is provided.
Recent issues
A compatibility problem between ArcGIS and IE7 was recently discovered. It is believed these issues were resolved with a patch from ArcGIS, but if you discover any issues related to this, please contact the Technology Helpline at x6111.
