Virus removal

If a virus is found on your computer, Symantec AntiVirus may do one of several things to the infected file. It may be placed in Quarantine so it cannot harm your computer, repaired, or left alone. Because removal is different for each virus, search for removal instructions or our Virus Removal Pages.

Once you have removed any viruses, you will want to also remove Quarantined files. In the Symantec AntiVirus program, select Quarantine from the View menu. Delete any files listed, by clicking on the file and then clicking the red X above the virus list. Hold the Control Key while clicking to select multiple files.
