The Show

Playing Slide Shows in the cafeteria on 鶹Ƶ has many advantages, and probably the most recognized one is raising awareness. It is actually quite common to come across a presentation providing information about on campus sporting events, theatrical performances by the college accompanied by a listing of show times, and facts explaining why it is important to return Gustieware to the cafeteria.

Creating a Slide Show Presentation

  1. The first to do when creating a new PowerPoint Presentation, is to create it using this template:
  2. Upon opening the template, 5 slides listing information about the Market Place will be displayed. You may manipulate these slides in anyway, fitting your presentation to meet your needs(i.e. Changing text, adding slides, etc.), however, you must keep the background and font size the same.
  3. Saving:
    1. In order to have your presentation display in the market place, it must be saved a certain way. Though saving is relatively simple after one understands how the Televisions work in the cafeteria. The TVs are set to an application similar to the slide show screen saver applications found on computers. This means that the slide shows can only display pictures and not PowerPoint Presentations. The method then is simply to save the slides of your current PowerPoint Presentations as pictures, and send those to dining services.

How to Save Slides as Pictures (Windows)

  1. Now that you have created a PowerPoint using the , open it up.
  2. Select the first slide on the thumbnail view of the slides on the left hand side of the screen.
    1. if the thumbnail view is not visible, select "view" on the menu bar at the top of the screen, and scroll to slide sorter.

  3. From here, select the Microsoft Office Icon in the upper leftmost corner of the screen (as shown to the right)
    1. if using a Microsoft Office older than 2007 or Office for Macintosh, select "File" from the menu bar
  4. Click "Save As", and a screen should appear asking for the name and file type in which you want to save your slide.
  5. Type in a name which you find relevant for the slide show, and then scroll down to either a GIF, PNG, or JPG as a file type (JPG is recommended).
  6. After you click save, PowerPoint will display an option to export the entire slide show as individual images.Powerpoint.gif
  7. If you wish for the entire slide show to be played on the TVs, select the "Every Slide" button. However if you only wish to have certain slides appear, you will have to manually save them slide by slide. You could also select the "Every Slide" button, and then manually go through the images and delete the undesired slides.

How to Save Slides as Pictures (Macintosh)

  1. Follow steps 1-4 from How to Save Slides as Pictures (Windows)
  2. The name and where it is located are up to you, but be sure to set the format to a JPEG, PNG, GIF, or a BMP. (JPG or BMP are recommended).
  3. Click the button labeled "Options..." on the lower right of the Save box
    1. Under "Save slides as graphics files," select the bubble next to "Size"
    2. Select the size 1920x1080
  4. Save
  5. After you click save, PowerPoint will notify you that every slide from your presentation was saved as a picture in a folder with the name and location that you selected.
  6. If you did not want the entire slide show to copy, you can manually open the folder and delete the undesired pictures.
