The Technology Services office has a small fleet of laptops that are available for check out to 鶹Ƶ Faculty and Staff. This page describes the program and options available.
Who Can Get a Loaner Laptop
Faculty and staff are eligible to loan laptops from the 鶹Ƶ Technology Helpline.
How to Request a Laptop
To request a loaner laptop, please either call the helpline at 507-933-6111 or send an email helpline@gustavus.edu with the following information:
- Your Name
- Your email username
- Your OS preference: Macintosh or Windows
- When you will need the laptop
- How long you will need the laptop (limit 1 week)
- Any special programs that you would like installed
- Any other relevant information
Once you have submitted a request, you will be notified by email regarding the status of your request.
Additional Information
- Request Early - We have a limited inventory of machines, the sooner we know, the better the chance we have of accommodating your request
- Pick up and Drop Off - You can pick up your loaner laptops anytime after 8 am on the first day or your reservation. We expect them to be returned before 4:30 on the last day or your reservation. - Specialized Software or Needs - Please tell us if you need any special software or unique requests.
- Try it Out - If you are planning to use the laptop away from campus, please be sure to log into the machine before you leave campus while the laptop is connected to the network. If you don't do this, you will need to use the generic 鶹Ƶ account on the laptops.
- Fees and Charges - There is currently no charge for the use of one of the Loaner Laptops.
- Lost, Damaged or Missing Equipment - Failure to return any equipment, including the computer sleeve and power adapter, will result in your department being billed for the missing equipment.
- Data - Before you return the loaner laptop, double check and verify that all of your data has been removed. Once returned the laptops are erased to prepare for the next user.
- Weekends - If your reservation is for a Saturday or Sunday, it will be extended to include the Friday before and the Monday after, because our office isn't able to check items in or out over the weekend.
