Manual Data Migration

  1. Reset the Domain Password for the user.
  2. Log in as Admin (.\admin).
  3. Open winadmin.
  4. Select Add a new user.
  5. Check the user type:
    1. Domain User: This is an employee user.
      1. Enter the username of the employee and click Add
    2. Local User: This is a generic local user such as a student.
      1. Enter the FullName and username of the new local account.
      2. Check Administrator to add this user to the administrator group. Most generic accounts are not administrator accounts.
  6. Log off and logon as the new user you just created.
  7. Open winadmin.
  8. Click 'Manual Migration'.
  9. Authenticate as yourself.
  10. Click Login.
  11. Select the backup image you created from the old machine.
  12. Please wait while the image attempts to mount.
  13. A folder will open showing the contents of the backup. Just drag the appropriate folders to the new user profile. Here are some of the default folders to move:
    1. Firefox:
      1. C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Roaming\Firefox
    2. Thunderbird:
      1. C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird
    3. Documents:
      1. C:\Users\<Username>\Documents
    4. Desktop:
      1. C:\Users\<Username>\Desktop
    5. Favorites:
      1. C:\Users\<Username>\Favorites
    6. Downloads:
      1. C:\Users\<Username>\Downloads
    7. Links:
      1. C:\Users\<Username>\Links
    8. Pictures:
      1. C:\Users\<Username>\Pictures
    9. Videos:
      1. C:\Users\<Username>\Videos
  14. To determine the printers, use the printers.txt file that will automatically open while after the image has mounted.
  15. When everything has completed migrating, click Logout.
