Locker is a file server used for classes and departments to share files.

Note: All data on locker is not backed up in anyway. Locker is only intended as a way to share files that are also stored elsewhere. Do not use locker as the only location of files.

On-Campus access

Windows 2000/XP

  1. From the Start Menu select My Computer.
  2. From the Tools Menu select Map Network Drive
  3. Input the following information
    1. Drive: Z
    2. Folder: \\locker.gac.edu\username
    3. Check "Reconnect at logon"
    4. Click on "Connect using a different user name"
    5. When prompted, input your Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ username and password
  4. Click the Finish button

Your Z drive will now be mounted and should automatically mount each time you log in. You can access your Z drive by selecting My Computer from the Start Menu and double clicking the correct volume.

Windows Vista

  1. From the Start Menu, select My Computer.
  2. From the toolbar, select Map Network Drive
  3. Input the following information
    1. Drive: L
    2. Folder: \\locker.gac.edu\username
    3. Check "Reconnect at logon"
    4. Click on "Connect using a different user name"
    5. When prompted, input your Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ username and password
  4. Click the Finish button

Windows 7

  1. From the Start Menu, select Computer
  2. From the toolbar at the top of the window, select Map Network Drive
  3. Input the following information:
    1. Drive: L
    2. Folder: \\locker.gac.edu\username
    3. Check "Reconnect at logon"
    4. Click on "Connect using a different user name"
    5. Click on Finish
    6. When prompted, input your Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ username and password

Your Z drive will now be mounted and should automatically mount each time you log in. You can access your Z drive by selecting My Computer from the Start Menu and double clicking the correct volume.

If you have problems connecting, do the following:

Change the Settings

  1. Press the Windows key (between Ctrl and Alt keys) and then the "R" key. A run dialog box will appear.
  2. Type "secpol.msc" (sans quotes) and press Enter
    1. Expand Local Policies
    2. Click on Security Options
    3. Double-click on "Network Security: LAN Manager authentication level"
      1. Change setting from "Send NTLMv2 response only" to "Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated". Click OK

You may need to reboot for this setting to take affect.

Using the IP Address

  1. Press the Windows key (between Ctrl and Alt keys) and then the "R" key. A run dialog box will appear.
  2. Type "cmd" and press enter.
  3. Type "ping locker.gac.edu". A set of four numbers will appear separated by periods.
  4. Follow the above directions for mapping your home directory using vista, except, use ip address (set of numbers) in place of "home.gac.edu":
    1. Under Folder: \\ip address\username
  5. Click the Finish Button.

Mac OS X

  1. From the Finder, select Connect to Server from the Go menu
  2. Type smb://locker.gac.edu in the text box along the bottom. Click the Connect button.
  3. When prompted, enter your username and password
  4. Choose My Home Directory from the list that appears

Your home directory will now be mounted. For easy access in the future, drag your home directory icon to the right side of your dock.

Mac OS 10.7

  1. From the Finder, select Connect to Server from the Go menu
  2. Type smb://locker.gac.edu in the text box along the bottom. Click the Connect button.
  3. When prompted, enter your username and password
  4. Choose My Home Directory from the list that appears

Off-campus access

You can use the Virtual Lab to access locker from off campus.
