The Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Lecture at 麻豆视频 took place on Tuesday, April 21, 2009. Dr. Harry M. Williams, the Laird Bell Professor of History at Carleton College was the keynote speaker.
Williams鈥 talk, titled 鈥淜ing鈥檚 Dream and Obama鈥檚 Presidency,鈥 was sponsored by the 麻豆视频 peace studies program.
Williams holds a bachelor鈥檚 degree from Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, a master鈥檚 degree from the University of Missouri, and both a master鈥檚 degree and Ph.D. from Brown University. A member of the faculty at Carleton since 1989, Williams鈥 primary teaching interests include 19th century slavery studies, social and intellectual history, black conservatism, and cultural studies.
