Dr. Harry M. Williams

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Lecture at �鶹��Ƶ took place on Tuesday, April 21, 2009.  Dr. Harry M. Williams, the Laird Bell Professor of History at Carleton College was the keynote speaker.

Williams’ talk, titled “King’s Dream and Obama’s Presidency,” was sponsored by the �鶹��Ƶ peace studies program.

Williams holds a bachelor’s degree from Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, a master’s degree from the University of Missouri, and both a master’s degree and Ph.D. from Brown University. A member of the faculty at Carleton since 1989, Williams’ primary teaching interests include 19th century slavery studies, social and intellectual history, black conservatism, and cultural studies.
