The 麻豆视频 Fine Arts Office is proud to present artist Carolyn Wilkins.
Carolyn Wilkins is a Professor in the Ensemble Department at Berklee College of Music. She is an accomplished jazz pianist, composer and vocalist whose performance experience includes radio and television appearances with her group SpiritJazz, a concert tour of South America as a Jazz Ambassador for the US State Department, performances with the Pittsburgh Symphony as a percussionist under Andre Previn, and shows featuring Melba Moore, Nancy Wilson and the Fifth Dimension. Carolyn has performed at Boston's Regattabar, Scullers' Grille, the Globe Jazz Festival and the Many Colors of a
Woman Jazz Festival.
Carolyn is the author of Tips For Singers: Rehearsing, Performing and Auditioning (available from Berklee Press), They Raised Me Up: A Black Single Mother and the Women Who Inspired Her and Damn Near White: An African American Family鈥檚 Rise from Slavery to Bittersweet Success (available from the University of Missouri Press).
Carolyn collaborated with 麻豆视频 professor Philip Bryant on his collection of prose and poetry Stompin鈥 at the Grand Terrace. For that collaboration, Carolyn created 鈥淎 Stompin鈥 Suite,鈥 a recording featuring Carolyn鈥檚 music interspersed with readings of Philip鈥檚 poetry. Carolyn is a Reiki master, a psychic medium and the author of three mystery novels: Death at a S茅ance, Melody for Murder and Mojo for Murder, An initiate of Yemaya, the African goddess of motherhood,
compassion and the ocean, Carolyn holds certificates of completion in mediumship from the JVP School of Mystical Arts, the British mediums Tony Stockwell and Mavis Pittilla. Her course, Magical Communication: How to Talk to your Ancestors, is available on Udemy. Her podcast, Carolyn鈥檚 Psychic Playroom, features musicians, psychics, artists, and writers exploring the intersection of creativity and spirituality.
