[http://gustavus.edu/go/webadvisor WebAdvisor] -- is [[web-based]] system that allows �鶹��Ƶ students, faculty and staff to access important academic information. WebAdvisor is also where students register for courses, check grades and register for
housing placement.

WebAdvisor has different features depending who logs in.

==Guests==
If you are not logged into WebAdvisor, only limited options are available.
==Passwords==
:Your WebAdvisor password must be 6 to 9 characters in length and include both letters and numbers. It is not automatically the same as your email password.
:If you don't know (or forgot) your WebAdvisor password, you can reset it by clicking the [https://wa.gac.edu/WebAdvisor/WebAdvisor?TOKENIDX=8181507841&SS=1&APP=CORE&CONSTITUENCY=XWAMST I forgot my password and need to reset it] link. You will be asked to provide your �鶹��Ƶ username and either your Social Security Number or �鶹��Ƶ ID number. A temporary password will be sent to your �鶹��Ƶ email account (if you don't know your email password - please stop by the [[Technology Helpline]]). The first time you log in with this temporary password, you will be prompted to choose another password.

If your account is disabled for failed log in attempts (Your account has been disabled due to too many incorrect login attempts), please wait 5 minutes and try again. The system will reset itself.

==Parent Access==

#Student logs into WebAdvisor, goes to the Parent Access for WebAdvisor section.
#Student creates WebAdvisor accounts for their parents (if they don't already have them), assigning a username (10 - 20 characters in length.
#Temporary password for the new account is sent to the student's �鶹��Ƶ email, and they can share it with their parents.
#Student selects what their parents have access to.
#Parents who have forgotten their WA password must have their child reset it.

;Are my email and WebAdvisor passwords the same?
:WebAdvisor and email passwords are not the same. You can set them to be the same, but this does not happen automatically.
;How do I reset my WebAdvisor password?

:WebAdvisor is unavailable daily from 2:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. CDT for system maintenance.

;I am receiving a message about too many cookies when I use WebAdvisor, what causes that?
:Browsers have a built in limit of 20 cookies per domain name. Each time a user opens a new browser window in WA (WebAdvisor), it creates a new cookie for that window. If the user closes the window properly by clicking the CLOSE WINDOW button, then WA can correctly remove the cookie from the WA user's browser. If the user closes the window by clicking the X in the top right then the cookie cannot be removed. If the user improperly closes enough windows then they will start receiving the message 'the maximum number of cookie values has been reached'. All browser sessions will need to be closed or the cookies will need to be cleared in order to access WA again. '''In order to avoid this problem, users should always be advised to use the CLOSE WINDOW button to close browser windows and not use the X.'''
