DESCRIPTION:The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Choir\, conducted by Dr. Brandon Dean will perform at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ellicott City\, Maryland on Thursd ay\, March 6 at 7 p.m. as part of their 2025 National Tour of the Northeast .\nEstablished in 1932\, the nationally renowned Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Choir is the fl agship choir in an active and highly integrated choral program that is comp rised of nearly 300 students. Members of the choir are selected by auditio n and represent a broad spectrum of academic and life interests. Rooted in its Lutheran choral heritage\, the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Choir performs fine sacred musi c from all historical periods\, but also champions new music by contemporar y composers. The choir has premiered commissioned works of noted composers including Eric Whitacre\, Stephen Paulus\, Imant Raminsh\, and Jaakko Mänt yjärvi. In 2020\, the choir commissioned a new "Alleluia" setting from acc laimed composer Elaine Hagenberg. In 2021\, the choir commissioned a powerf ul new work entitled "Kouraj" from Haitian-American composer Sydney Guillau me. The choir has new commissions on the way from both Jake Runestad and Ma rques Garrett.\nThe concert is free and open to the public. Freewill dona tions will be accepted before and after the concert.
