She is also a columnist for New Scientist and Physics W orld. \nHer research in theoretical physics focuses on cosmology\, neutron stars\, and dark matter. She also does research in Black feminist science\, technology\, and society studies. \nNature recognized her as one of 10 peo ple who shaped science in 2020\, and Essence magazine has recognized her as one of “15 Black Women Who Are Paving the Way in STEM and Breaking Barri ers.” A cofounder of Particles for Justice\, she received the 2017 LGBT+ Physicists Acknowledgement of Excellence Award for her contributions to imp roving conditions for marginalized people in physics and the 2021 American Physical Society Edward A. Bouchet Award for her contributions to particle cosmology. \nOriginally from East L.A.\, she divides her time between the N ew Hampshire Seacoast and Cambridge\, Massachusetts. Her first book\, The D isordered Cosmos: A Journey into Dark Matter\, Spacetime\, and Dreams Defer red\, is forthcoming on March 9\, 2021 from Bold Type Books.\nThe Moe Visit ing Lectureship is endowed by Karin and Robert Moe in honor of their daug hter\, Kris Burke Moe\, class of 1984.
